Retreat FAQs
Do I need to be an experienced photographer?
You just need to be interested in making images. The week is built around observation and creative connection rather than technical mastery, with one-to-one mentoring to meet you wherever you're starting from. Beginners welcome.
What camera do I need?
Bring any camera you're comfortable with — DSLR, mirrorless, a ‘point-and-shoot’. It's the way of seeing that matters most, not the gear.
Who is this retreat for?
The retreat is designed for people with a mature-aged, slow-travel mindset, solo travellers or those coming with friends, complete beginners through to experienced photographers. What matters more than skill level is a sense of curiosity and a desire to create without pressure.
Can I come alone?
Yes. Most participants will be attending solo. With a maximum of eight participants and shared meals and activities throughout the week, it's an easy group to settle into and make friends.
What's included in the price?
Private room at luxury boutique accommodation, airport transfers, your Angkor Archaeological Park pass, daily breakfast, lunches and dinners, guided photography walks, cultural experiences, image reviews, and one-to-one mentoring throughout the week.
What's not included?
International flights and travel insurance, personal expenses, shopping, and souvenirs.
Is the price final?
The price per person figure is indicative at this stage. Final pricing will be confirmed once the retreat is formally announced.
What happens after I register my interest?
After registering your interest, you'll be added to the list and contacted directly as soon as dates are confirmed and booking opens — before it's opened up more widely.
Siem Reap FAQs
Do I need a visa?
Check if you need a visa on the official e-visa website (evisa.gov.kh). The price for a visa to visit Cambodia is typically around USD $30 – check through the official site as prices may vary. The visa takes a few days to process, and is valid for 30 days. Ensure you apply 2–4 weeks ahead of travel.
What currency should I bring?
US dollars are used for most things in Siem Reap — hotels, restaurants, tours. It's worth carrying some Cambodian riel (the local currency) for markets and smaller vendors if you wish to purchase souvenirs. Credit cards are widely accepted.
What's the weather like in late November?
Late November sits at the start of Cambodia's dry season — cooler, clearer, and less humid than the months before, with some of the best light of the year for photography.
Is Siem Reap safe?
Siem Reap is one of Cambodia's most visited and well-established tourist destinations. As with any travel, it's worth checking your government's latest travel advice closer to departure.
What fitness level do I need for Siem Reap?
There's no hiking or strenuous activity built into the program, but there is a fair amount of walking and standing — often on uneven stone paths, in warm, humid conditions. A comfortable, moderate level of fitness is enough; you don't need to be especially fit or active to enjoy Siem Reap.
Do I need to book my own flights?
Yes — flights to Siem Reap International Airport aren't included, so you'll need to organise your own flights too and from Siem Reap.
